Born in Palermo, she has shown a keen interest in music and all that is art from a very tender age. At the age of 10, she joins the white voices choir and very quickly is chosen as their solo vocalist. She has such passion for music and at the age of 15 decides to deepen her knowledge studying techniques and styles of some of the finest international artists. She becomes familiar with the works of Sarah Vaughan, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole. In the meantime she also graduates in languages (English and French). Looking for new emotions to give space to her creativity, she travels into the fascinating world of Jazz, working with some well-known groups; this experience takes her to the Franco Cerri Music School in Milan, Italy. Soon she realises that her passion has also become work, and she moves to Lake Maggiore, some one hour’s drive form Milan and Switzerland. She alternates between singing, modeling and her work as a congress hostess, thus participating in numerous and important events. She worked for three years as an animator for some of the most important hotel chains on the Sicilian coast. Together with a pianist, she performs for several well-known Italian companies (RANA, KOELLIKER, MITSUBISHI MOTOR, HDP, ACTION, etc), during their meetings, conventions, in some of the most elegant hotels in Milan, Rome, Portofino, Lugano, Zurich, Montecarlo. In 1996, she publishes her first CD “Due Gocce di Luna”, including a selection of famous Italian, American and Latin American songs. She also works as a backing vocalist in the making of CDs of some famous Italian singers. She received a lot of success from participating in three editions of the musical show “Il Canzoniere” as their main vocalist. She has been working for five years for the Navigation Organisation on Lake Maggiore, as a musical entertainer on their summer musical cruises on the Lake. More recently, she works together with TATO, pianist of the Group “I Nuovi Angeli”, performing in Italy and abroad with great success. Her repertoire spans from the more classical Italian and international music of the 60s 70s and 80s to the latest sounds in the hit parade. Marcella is one of those singers who gets to your soul and so when you next listen to her, simply relax and let her take you higher and higher. |
