VERBANIA MUNICIPALITY – “Education City”

Over these past few years, the Municipality of Verbania has been very active as an educational city - engaging in the promotion of peace and responsible citizenship, instituting the Municipal Youth Council as a laboratory for democratic participation in city life and the promotion of peace education in all of its aspects.
The Municipality of Verbania supports in various ways (from hosting concerts to holding artistic events), the meeting with other cultures, listening to youth and stimulating the growth of their active and conscious participation through peer education, participating in and promoting peace forums – thus, the city nurtures the hope of contributing towards the building of a world of solidarity and justice, able to foresee the future by seeing itself in others.

The Lama Gangchen World Peace Foundation is actively committed to the development of a culture of peace and better living for world peace by cooperating in the humanitarian fields of health, education, the environment, spirituality and the preservation of indigenous cultures; engaged in voluntary service in support of the United Nations programmes, devoted to helping developing countries towards self-sustainability, as well as supporting the revitalisation of rural and alpine cultures.
For the development of Better Health, the Foundation promotes important annual congresses in Spain, Nepal, Mongolia, China, India, Italia, Taiwan, to create a forum of exchange between scientists, physicians, therapists and teachers, towards a world system which is more educated and integrated, both on the physical, mental and spiritual levels.

The China Society for Promotion of the Guangcai Programme (CSPGP) - Non-Governmental Organisation in consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC) was initiated by the United Front Work Department (UFWD) of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and established in 1994 by a group of non-state entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Province of China in an operation called: “Let us throw ourselves into the glorious undertaking of poverty alleviation”.
The principal objective of CSPGP is to alleviate poverty. For this purpose, it supports non-state enterprises by providing technical assistance and promoting the exchange of information, especially in the fields of resource exploitation and trade cooperation. In the last decade, they have organized 14407 entrepreneurs, invested 52.3 CNY and helped 2’100’000 population out of poverty.

The International Association of Educators for World Peace acts through education, to protect the environment from air and water pollution, and to help implement the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A Non Governmental Organisation Affiliated to the United Nations since 1973 – ECOSOC and UNESCO, in 1990, it became offically linked with Unicef and UNCED. Presently, the IAEWP has chapters in over 100 countries. In 1987, the United Nations Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar, designated the IAEWP " World Peace Messenger", in recognition for its significant contribution to the programme and objectives of the 1986 International Year of Peace.

The Children of the Earth, Inc. dedicates itself to the building of a better future for all children and youth. To promote this, Children of the Earth offers leadership skills programs at home and abroad; educational workshops, conferences that further peace. COE fosters building networks and coalitions of groups with common purposes to further the concept of building greater global cooperation, multicultural understanding, spiritual values and ethical living skills, as well as social responsibility. Children of the Earth, Inc. uses as its platform documents that support and further the intention of the United Nations and its Charter.

To promote and propagate the practice of meditation which brings inner peace, a gateway to world peace.

To propagate the Dhammakaya meditation technique to the general public regardless of races, nationalities, and religions in order to bring peace to the world.

To provide general support for monks, novices, laymen, and laywomen of Wat Phra Dhammakaya as appropriate.
To build and maintain World Dhammakaya Centre.

To build and maintain an academic institute that offers all levels of education: pre-school, elementary school, middle school, high school, vocational school, and university to provide intensive Dhamma education and training in addition to normal curriculum (in the near future).
