A message to the XIII World Congress of the
International Association of Educators for World Peace

Dear friends,

It is our great pleasure to send congratulations and greetings to the organizers and participants of the 13th World Congress of International Association of Educators for World Peace and we would like to express our regret that we can not participate directly. But although we are not physically present, the First Children's Embassy in the World - Megjashi is there with you through its activities in involvement of all children in the education, services like informal education of poor children, support of the inner diverse families, development of the volunteerism, the spirit and the practice of the non-violence, support of the children in crises...

The fact that today 125 million children are out of the schools, proves the enormous weigh of the problem about which IAEWP is focusing in this Congress. According UN, there are 862 millions of illiterate people in the whole world. Two thirds of them are females. According the latest statistics from Macedonia, the number of illiterate people is 87.749, which is more than 4 % of the whole population! 67.254 are women, 748 are girls between 10 to 14 years of age and 1079 are between 15 to 19 years of age.

What to do? It is obvious that the voice of the increasing number of peaceful activists of the whole world do not reach the people in the governments to whom everything is more important than peace, non-violence, love, knowledge, honesty, correct behaving and the other universal human values. It seems that there is a lot of work to be done ahead of us on the local level. It is a big, difficult, but pleasant challenge. On the other hand, the connection and focusing of the similar organizations on a world level increases the energetic potential by giving the message WE ARE NOT ALONE and that EVERYONE HAS A POWER FOR POSITIVE CHANGES IN THE PLACE OF LIVING AND EVEN WIDER.

It is one of the many reasons we wait the conclusions of the 13th IAEWP Congress impatiently and that is why we are on the side of IAEWP, as the previous 10 years. We wish you a successful Congress!

Sincerely yours,

Dragi Zmijanac - Executive Director
and the whole team of the FCEW Megjashi
